Job Summary

  • We are looking for an accountant to manage all financial activities, such as budgeting, bank deposits, fixed payments, and variable expenses. Our ideal candidate is dependable and capable of working quickly while maintaining precision.
  • Auditing financial records and processes, comparing bank statements, and calculating tax obligations and returns are all tasks that fall under the purview of an accountant.
  • You should be well-versed in accounting and financial rules and procedures, as well as possess strong computer, verbal, and written communication skills. You should also be able to meet deadlines and provide management with clear and comprehensive reports.
  • To be effective in this role, you must have prior bookkeeping experience as well as an eye for detecting numerical errors.
  • You will ensure that we are in full compliance with all tax laws and provide us with accurate numerical information on our company’s financial position, liquidity, and cash flows.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Collect information and prepare a balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize the current financial position.
  • Audit records to prove financial transactions.
  • Maintain accounting standards through the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate activities and provide guidance to the accounting support staff.
  • Collect and analyze account information to reconcile financial discrepancies.
  • Secure the company’s financial information by completing database backups.
  • Support the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Create and document business procedures and accounting policies to maintain and reinforce internal controls.
  • Provide management guidance and technical support.
  • Examine and recommend changes to accounting systems and accepted accounting practices.
  • Participate in the development of financial standards as well as the forecasting process.
  • Contribute to the goal-setting process for each department.
  • Prepare financial statements and formulate a budget according to schedule.
  • Ensure that monthly comprehensive income statements, reports, and audit reviews are prepared and submitted.
  • Ensure that VAT and withholding tax preparation and payment are done correctly.

Requirements / Core Competence

  • B.Sc in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, or related.
  • 1 or 2 years in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of Quick-books is a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Company and Allied Matters Act (CAMA), the International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS), the various FIRS regulations and procedures, and the State Internal Board of Revenue regulations.
